Persona
After conducting user research, the next steps were to develop the persona and scenario to get an accurate picture of who the team was designing for and how to design for that person.
The research drove the team straight to the persona. Johannes Zummerman was created as the team’s GoCoffee user. The initial persona was based off of the user research conducted and was set as follows:
Johannes Zummerman
Johannes Zummerman is 34 and married, and is a military software consultant that travels often for work.
- Loves good coffee. Quality is very important. It’s part of his morning ritual, and disrupts his whole day when he can’t find coffee in the morning.
- Drinks coffee all day long, and at night.
- Will sometimes get espresso drinks.
- Burnt coffee pisses him off. Messing up his order is not good.
- Will give a place one chance to get it right.
- Does not ask for directions.
- Wanders to find coffee.
- Drive for miles out of his way seeking a coffee shop.
- His wife hates that they have to get up early when on vacation so he can find good coffee.
- Won’t drink the coffee at the hotel.
- Doesn’t drink coffee at home, even though he owns an expensive coffee maker.
- Makes mental notes when he sees a coffee shop he thinks he might like, or when he goes to one he likes.
- Sometimes he forgets exactly where the coffee shops he likes are.
- Travels to cities in the United States and Europe, and sometimes to rural towns as well.
- Wishes he had access to recommendations from other people as to which are the best places to get coffee.
- Atmosphere is important to him, though he rarely drinks his coffee at the coffee shop. Describes atmosphere as clean, spacious, well designed (comfortable), not sketchy, good service
