Professional Work

This is a selection of my professional work.

International Transplant Nurses Society

January 2006 | http://itns.org/

The design of this site was heavily influenced by the information architecture I developed and the wireframes I provided to the graphic designer. My company, Yum Yum Web, built and maintains this site.

Department of Anthropology

December 2005 | http://www.pitt.edu/~pittanth/

I worked closely with the client to understand their needs to highlight research and attract graduate students. This information inspired the multicolored columns and graphic callouts to new offerings.

Photo Gallery

Spring 2005 | http://www.pitt.edu/commencement/gallery/index.html

To answer the need for a reusable photo gallery that the University of Pittsburgh could use for multiple clients, I turned to Flash and XML. The position of all elements is controlled by the XML and can be updated by non-technical staff.

Office of Institutional Advancement

August 2005 | http://www.giveto.pitt.edu

This complete redesign features a random photo and caption application I built using Flash and XML. I also advocated a graphic call to action to promote online donations, which went up 94 percent after the new site launched.

University of Pittsburgh

January 2005 | http://www.pitt.edu

For this design realignment, I streamlined the code by converting the clunky table-based design to much cleaner CSS. Later, my Flash random photo app was added in place of Javascript to increase the functionality and add elegance to the loading photos.

Department of Psychology

November 2005 | http://www.psychology.pitt.edu

I reused the random photo Flash application from the Institutional Advancement site with some modifications. And I used some DOM scripting to automate highlighting the user's location in the navigation.

UMC Web Team Christmas Card

December 2005 | http://www.umc.pitt.edu/web/holiday/

I came up with concept and reworked some ActionScript code I found online to quickly create a University Marketing Communications web team Christmas card. The elves are randomly generated, and will regenerate when clicked.

UMC Web Team Christmas Card

December 2003 | http://www.umc.pitt.edu/web/holiday/2004.html

I first created this build-your-own-snowman Christmas card in 2003. We reused it in 2004, and sold it to a client in 2005.

Chancellor Mark Nordenberg

November 2003 | http://www.umc.pitt.edu/chancellor/

While this Flash piece has some usability issues, this assignment allowed me to flex my Flash muscles when I first joined the University of Pittsburgh. It features a revolving collage of photos related to the chancellor’s achievements or events.
